My Experiences and Background

My work as an art therapist and counselor is grounded in creativity, connection, and social justice. Over the years, I’ve supported individuals, families, and communities impacted by violence, trauma, and systemic oppression, as well as those navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. I’ve witnessed both the weight these experiences can carry and the strength and resilience that can emerge through art, reflection, and supportive relationships. My background includes working in inpatient behavioral health hospitals, pediatric settings, schools, in-home therapy, and community outpatient care, with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Before becoming an art therapist, I spent five years as a Registered Behavioral Technician supporting children, teens, and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities. My commitment to community-centered work extends beyond the therapy room, including contributing to Hearing Philadelphia, a music project amplifying the voices of those affected by gun violence, and conducting research on group art therapy with Iranian women impacted by violence and oppression.
